ABOUT THE CENTER

In the 2002-2003 academic year, with support from a "Teaching American History" grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the Center is launching a graduate-level Certificate Program for the Teaching of American History, offering after-school professional development workshops in conjunction with area Teachers' Centers, and sponsoring week-long summer workshops in American History for area teachers and librarians.

Under the direction of Dr. Daniel Lerner, a former Assistant Professor in the Division of Education at Binghamton University, the Center began to develop a set of web-based resources for use in its professional development activities and in secondary school classrooms. Under the new grant the CTAH staff continues to develop these web-based resources

Area teachers and Binghamton University graduate students interested in participating in any of the Center's programs should contact the Center's Project Coordinator, Melyssa Wrisley, at (607) 777-6769 or via email.
