ABOUT THE CENTER

In the 2002-2003 academic year, with support from a "Teaching American History"(TAH) grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the Center launched a graduate-level Certificate Program for the Teaching of American History and began offering after-school professional development workshops in conjunction with area Teachers' Centers, and sponsoring week-long summer workshops in American History for area teachers and librarians.

The Center has offered a range of professional development activities in U.S. History for area teachers since 2002. These include one-week summer workshops, book-circles during the academic year, a fall history workshop, and a spring peer-review conference

Area teachers and Binghamton University graduate students interested in participating in any of the Center's programs should contact the Center's Director, Adam Laats, at (607) 777-6769 or via email.
