Professor Penelope Harper

Dr. Harper develops and runs teacher workshops and reading groups at the Center.

Penelope earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in U.S. history from SUNY-Binghamton. Previously she worked as an Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University, and she has taught history at Binghamton University, Trinity College in Connecticut, and most recently at SUNY-Cortland. Penelope recently completed a Master of Arts in Teaching at Binghamton University.

Penelope's research interests center on U.S. History from 1865 to 1920, particularly Women's and Labor History. She is currently revising her dissertation, "Investigating the Working Woman: Middle-Class Americans and the Debate Over Women's Wage Work, 1820-1920," into a book.
