July 10-14, 2006
Workshop Facilitators:
In this workshop we will discuss content and develop teaching strategies
for topics of nineteenth century change -- such as moral reform, suffrage,
women's
changing roles, the market revolution, the rise of industry, the expansion
and development of electoral politics, agrarian and industrial workers'
movements, westward expansion, and progressivism. We will examine
how these and other social, political, and economic issues developed
in the nineteenth century,
and we will consider their legacy in the twentieth century.
