SUMMER 2007 WORKSHOP:

War as a Turning Point: American Conflicts at Home and Abroad

Focus on Literacy

July 9-13, 2007

Workshop Facilitators: In this workshop we will discuss content and develop teaching strategies for topics related to war as a turning point in American society and the world. We will examine several major wars and the actions of individuals, both famous and ordinary, within each conflict. Teachers will trace the ebb and flow of American foreign policy between isolation and intervention. They will also explore the social, political, and economic effects of war on the homefront and on the international stage from the American Revolution to the present.
