Allyn Van Deusen

Allyn Van Deusen is the Project Coordinator for the "Teaching American History" grant at the Center. She is also an advanced doctoral candidate in U.S. History at Binghamton University.

Allyn coordinates events, develops and maintains a database of contacts, performs research for workshops, and promotes the Center's many activities. Allyn brings a wide range of teaching, tutoring, and adminsitrative experience -- at Binghamton University, Empire State College, and Goddard College -- to her work at the Center.

Allyn holds a M.A. in Social and Intellectual History from SUNY Albany, a M.Ed. in General Educational Studies from St. Lawrence University, and a B.A. in History from St. Lawrence University. Her dissertation (in progress) focuses on gender and nineteenth century reform movements, specifically abolition, women's rights, and Spiritualism. It is titled "Isabella Beecher Hooker and John Hooker: Partners in Reform."
